Greece is becoming a destination for acquiring holiday homes even in less prominent areas of the country, as buying interest from abroad continues to be very high. That interest is now extending to homes for the winter too.
“A Spanish family recently bought a 100-square-meter house on Astypalaia, paying 430,000 euros. They were visiting the island, and their long-term goal is to use this house not only for their summer holidays, but for more months of the year, once they retire,” Marika Dimitriadou, deputy managing director of Barnes Greece, a member of the Barnes International Realty network, has said.
“More and more of our clients are asking if the house has heating for the winter, a sign that they want to stay more months per year, not just for their summer holidays,” Dimitriadou notes.
According to Katerina Mitsotaki, head of Barnes Hellas, “we find that there is significant buying interest in less popular, but equally beautiful areas, which of course also have the advantage of lower costs. They want to experience Greece as it was 20 years ago. So they move to smaller islands or even to areas of the mainland, such as Western Greece or the Peloponnese.”
With relatively mild winters Greece is a good option for an all year-round holiday home
